The Institute of Internal Auditors Tanzania is pleased to announce that the General Assembly of the African Federation of the Institute of Internal Auditors (AFIIA) held on 22-23 April 2013 in Accra, Ghana unanimously voted for relocation of the its Secretariat and Headquarters from South Africa to
Tanzania.
This decision took into account the dedication that the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Tanzania has shown in promoting the profession of internal audit in the continent and it was also recognition of the contribution that IIA Tanzania has made in the development of the profession of Internal Audit in Africa and the World at large. Two members of IIA Tanzania Board are serving on influential IIA global organs namely, the International Internal Audit Standards Board (IIA) and Public Sector Audit
Committee.
The mission of AFIIA is to provide a unified voice of the members of the African Continent on common issues, to collaborate in a manner which will best serve the interest of all African IIA members, and to promote and develop an effective internal audit profession supported by strong, recognized institutes. Thus value will be added to all stakeholders in the private and public sectors, by improving risk management, internal control and governance in all organizations. AFIIA has a membership
of over 20 Institutes representing over 18,000 internal auditors in Africa.
Apart from voting for relocation of the Secretariat the General Assembly also voted for changes in its constitution, approved strategies to promote the profession in the continent and elected new leadership for the next two years 2013-2015. The elected leaders are as follows:

Vice President: Southern Africa: ENOCH MUSHANGO – Botswana
Vice President: West Africa: RICHARD NTIM – Ghana
“Since its inception in 2006 the Institute of Internal Auditors Tanzania has grown from a humble beginning to become one of the strongest Institutes in Africa. Its membership base has grown from
less than 100 at inception to over 800 at present”, said IIA Tanzania President Emmanuel Johannes.
It is recognized in Tanzania as the premier trainer in internal audit, Governance and risk management courses to both the public and private sector. It is also a Premier trainer of Audit Committees in both Private and Public sectors.
