The call has been made to internal audit practitioners to comply with the set standards in the profession if are determined to become worldwide recognized practitioners.
This was revealed by Mr .Emmanuel Johannes, the President of Institute of Internal Auditors Tanzania during the 4- day workshop on Internal Audit Quality Assessment at Tanga beach resort in the last week of July 2014.
The workshop among other benefits was designed to remind internal auditors on the professional standards and more chiefly realizing the benefits of an effective Quality Assurance and Improvement Program, (QAIP).
“You know internal audit profession resembles software for a computer, every day new apps are emerging and the old updating, and the same applied to our profession, people should always be updated as the industry we are in is not rigid so why should we be rigid?” Mr. President argued.
The statement above was in favour of the why the Institute is set to conduct more workshops regularly to all internal audit practitioners and other interested parties.
“We, as IIA Tanzania team are devoted in taking the profession into higher heights and we can proudly say since the foundation stone of the institute in 2006 was laid our efforts have been yielding results given to the increment of members.” Mr.Johanness noted.
Furthermore,, Mr.Augustiono Mbogella a certified trainer and Past President of IIA Tanzania urged internal auditors to fully utilize workshop opportunities when announced as it helps to make a practitioner professionally fit.
“ The ended workshop for stance was designed to help internal auditors identify opportunity to improve their internal audit activity, ability to add value and improve operations as well as develop actions to move forward on the path to quality.”Mr. Mbogella highlighted.
He went on to say, such workshops help to create the foundation for the cost effective quality assurance and improvement program for their internal audit activity, set participant ready for external quality assessment as well as perform a high level assessment of their internal audit activity in conformity with IIA standards.
The workshop targeted Chief Internal Auditors, Heads of Internal audit, Audit Managers, Internal Auditors, External Auditors and Members of Audit Committee
Partakers of the event were also awarded a 32 hours Continued Professional Education.
Commenting at the end of workshop, Mr. Kafaso Millinga, an Executive Secretary of IIA Tanzania nodded his head as a gesture of appreciation to all participants who attended the event.
